Resident Journal Club | Organ Preservation: From OPERA to APHRODITE Discussing the Evidence, Emerging Data, and Barriers to Clinical Implementation of Rectal Brachytherapy
September 8, 2026 | 12:00pm - 1:00pm Eastern
This Resident Journal Club explores the evolving landscape of organ preservation in rectal cancer, tracing the progression from OPERA to APHRODITE and the growing body of evidence supporting rectal brachytherapy as a potential tool in selective non-operative management. Residents will review key trial data, examine emerging clinical signals, and discuss real-world barriers to implementation — including workflow, patient selection, and multidisciplinary coordination. Designed as a focused, resident-led learning session, this program offers a practical, evidence-based look at where rectal brachytherapy fits within modern organ-preservation strategies and what’s needed for broader clinical adoption.
